Day 90 - Tying Baby Quilt

We are back in the clothes washing and drying buisness!  Had the new dryer delivered and installed today.
Tried it out tonight and it works like a dream.... Here she is:

I sure will miss the old one that we had for 30 years... mostly the "wood look" on the top...

Worked 3 hours tying on the baby quilt- maybe half done....

Day 89- Baby Quilt Pinning

Guess what I did today!  Got the quilt pinned and cut out! Pete had to stay in the bedroom with the door shut while I pinned as she loves to take a running  start towards the pieces laid out on the floor and then slide into them and bunch them all up...I gave her one chance this morning and she blew it- so she sat by the door crying while I pinned...

So I brought it downstairs to my studio, laid it on the ironing board and.....

Day 88 - Another Monday night

Mondays are tough to get motivated.  Spent a couple hours at the office with Michael after work cleaning up and no motivation tonight.  I did sew the backing for the baby quilt together this morning and tonight, guess what?  Bet you have missed seeing yo yo's for a while so here are a few more...Oh, got the photos for yesterday on where they belong with Day 87 if you want to look....

Day 87- Perfect way to end this day

My computer refuses to read my photo card.  Ended up buying a new dryer today as ours died yesterday.  Worst part of the day was losing one of my diamond earrings.  They are solitares and the only diamond earrings I own.  Getting ready for church this morning and thought I had it in.  Heard a little noise as I reached for the backing... it was gone.  When home from church and buying the dryer I tore the room apart.  Pulled out all of the furniture, emptied the drawer that was open...nothing.  The high point of the day was that I got to see my daughter, son and his girlfriend.  Michael got the last window in the basement trimmed out and finished the spot above the bathroom door.  Added another (final) border the to baby quilt and fixed the one 4 square block in the corner that was put in wrong.

Things have got to start looking up.

Well, it's actually day 88 but the photos are working again so I will pop them in where they should be:

Here is the completed 2nd window:

This is the spot above the bathroom doorway that needed some paneling put in:

Here are the little bluebird cupcakes that I was making at church for the sale:

And finally the last border on the baby quilt:

Day 86- Baby Quilt

Added the next border onto the quilt and I see I have to redo one of the little black and yellow blocks in the corner...

In this very warm and comfortable house I had sewing company once again
and she was somewhere where she shouldn't be!

And a look at the old air conditioner that is gone now-

The new one now in it's place.

Look what else I spotted outside this evening....

Signs of spring and tomorrow is Palm Sunday.

Day 85 - Baby Quilt & Heat

Woke up this morning to 51 degrees inside the house and 27 outside.  Quite a brisk morning overall!  Furnace guys were here at 6:50 am.

They unloaded lots of boxes and sheet metal pieces....

When I came home from work tonight I entered a warm house of 70 degrees and look what I found in the basement....

Worked on the baby quilt- added another border.

Made 4 small blocks...

Pete was with me for the evening.

All is well.

Day 84 - An Archivers night....

Met with my good friend Terry at Archivers tonight.  We talked about a t-shirt quilt she and her mom are making for a nephew, tea dying antique lace and our "Big Project" that we have been working towards for a year...also looking at meeting dates in April.

Also stopped and looked at the FABRIC that Archivers is carrying to include with your scrapbook pages!

Day 83 - Baby Quilt and Furnace

Well, the diagnosis is in on the furnace and it has passed away.  20 years and it is done.
Tomorrow we have a furnace salesman coming out to give us a quote and the BIG question
(besides where is the money coming from) is can it be up and running by Easter
when we have the family over for brunch????  Here is a farewell photo...

So I had been hesitating sewing the nine patch border on as I couldn't quite figure out how to do it as I had cut the black border too large and I don't have a 1/4" foot to make even seams.  Anyway, a little talk from Michael about taking on projects that are more complicated than they need to be and keeping a project in perspective and that was the push I needed to figure it out and get it done tonight.  So there you go.  A little irritation can go a long way to getting something done to prove a point!  Thanks Moo!  On to the next step.

Oh, Pete came downstairs trying to sit on me to warm up in this cold house!

Day 82 - Again??

Ok, so this is boring....rather tired and chilly (still with no heat in the house).
  Just no motivation tonight.
So cold in the basement that Pete isn't even down here with me-
 oops, she just walked by...

Day 81 - Baby Quilt & Church Tic Tac Toe Games

This morning I did some sewing on the 9 patch block border for the baby quilt.

Got a call from Sally (church quilter) that she needed some help before the Palm Sunday sale.  So went to her house right after work and did cutting for the fabric tic-tac-toe games for the sale.  Worked from 6-9 cutting out pieces.  Here are a couple of the fabrics:

(Discovered when we found the papers on the furnace we installed that it is 20 years old.  Chilly in the house without the furnace running....)

Day 80- Girls Weekend-Baby Quilt

Went to a little country church in Cokato this morning and then to a wonderful lunch at the Pizza Factory!  Time to head back home.  On arrival found out that our furnace has stopped working and the house temp is about 60 degrees!  Then discovered that work had been done on the basement!!! One of the new windows has been trimmed out!

One other accomplishment while I was away- the section of wall that had to be rebuilt from the bathroom remodel and putting the outlet in the wall was also complete!! Just needs some baseboard installed!

I sewed one of the strips of the nine patch blocks together for the baby quilt tonight.

Day 79 - Girl's Weekend Yo-yo's and Glass Etching

So this morning we left Cokato and headed to Hutchinson to explore an antique store.  This horse and wagon are outside the shop.

So is this Jolly Green Giant!

It is so fun to explore antique stores.  Here we found a Westmorland milk glass chicken on a nest.  Both of my sisters and I collect milkglass.

It is our tradition to eat here:

Talk about wonderful food!!

As per the last few days I made more yo-yo's tonight...

And then etched the words flour and sugar into these glass jars for my pantry.  I had never done this before and boy was it quick and easy!  Just had to leave the etching cream on for 60 seconds!

P.S. I saw two robins this morning in Cokato: it's " Blizzard time" family!!

Day 78 - Girls Weekend Yo-yo's

Left after work today to head out to my mom's house. I drove through Delano and stopped to see the bridge that is close to flooding right in town.  Here is a dirt burm that was hauled into this parking lot with pumps going over the top.

This is looking just west (down river) from the bridge.

Close up of the east side of the bridge and the water is just a couple of inches below.

In this photo you can see how close the water is to the bridge and to the businesses in town.

These are the yo-yo's I made tonight at my mom's house.

My sister from Duluth also came.  This has been a tradition for a number of years. We had a lovely dinner that mom made and talked the evening away (while I made some yo-yo's).

Day 77 - Craft Group

Had my monthly Craft Group meeting tonight.
I worked on yo-yo's and here is what I accomplished tonight:

My friend Lois was also making some yo-yo's and look at the interesting square shape she has.  She said she couldn't remember how those were done but would look it up for us.

Carol was making felt eggs and bunnies for the grandkids to give to teachers.  The tiny little butterflies and little pink bunny heads were decorative brads for scrapbooking!  Cool use for them!

Our fourth member Verna wasn't able to make it as she might have broken a bone in her foot.
She will find out tomorrow.....
