Day 155 - Cutting mini blocks

So last night when I went to enter my daily blog- blogger was working!  I got up early this morning to

 enter it and it STILL wasn't working!  So end of the work day and

 just before serving up some dinner it is back online.

Beautiful Sunday and I hung my daughters two quilts on the line to air (along with her sleeping bag and tent).

I had to bring them in twice due to showers but they did get a good airing.  (The quilt on the left is one that she made in high school - all cat fabrics.  The one on the right is the one I made her to take to college titled
"Losing My Marbles".)

This evening I worked on those tiny 4 square quilt pieces from awhile ago.  The little green and beige one on the upper left hand side is the size they have to be cut to - a 2" square.

And another basement ceiling update- another section has been installed!!!

Day 151 - Mini Quilt Completed

Finished up the hand sewing of the quilt binding today.
  Finished size is 8"x11". 

I would like to try a smaller one now.

We made some major headway in another section of basement ceiling being installed today- YEAH!

Day 150 - Mini Quilt Binding

Worked on hand sewing the backside of the binding to the quilt.  Once again realizing that I didn't give myself quite enough fabric to do this as it was rather bulky to work with and I had to do a lot of coaxing to get the binding around to the back of the quilt.

Put together this quick project for my daughter's new place.  It is a craft/idea board that will hang on the wall and have pattern pieces and ideas etc pinned to it.  I just covered a piece of foam core board with some mottled cotton fabric, pinned it on the edges and then used masking tape on the back side to hold the fabric securely.  I did use a piece of grossgrain ribbon at the top to create a simple hanger.

Day 149 - Mini Quilt Binding

I sewed on the right side of the mini quilts binding.  I had made it 2 inches wide and then ironed it together so I was working with one inch and after ripping out part of it decided that just wasn't enough! Argh!!!  Then I re-ironed it and "cheated" not matching up my edges.  It HAS to work now!

Day 147 - More of La Crosse, Wisconsin

This morning brought some 3 hours of antique shopping in downtown La Crosse.

I completed the hand quilting on the mini quilt today.

On to another new quilt shop which I would recommend highly for its brightness and current fabrics.

It is called Olive Juice Quilts in Onalaska, Wisconsin.

Day 146 - La Crosse, Wisconsin

Went into La Crosse today. 

Visited their Hobby Lobby where I found a border print to make a skirt for Micaela! 

 These prints are extremely difficult to find so I was excited and

 she liked it too which is an added bonus.

Explored at Grandad Bluff in La Crosse where you can see 3 states at once.

Lunched at the park on the Mississippi and then to a new quilt shop!

River Road Quilt Shop. I would recommend this one to anyone in the area!

Day 145 - Tomah, Wisconsin and Back to Sparta, Wisconsin

Had a little time to do some more hand quilting on this little project today.

Headed to Tomah this morning and their antique store.  Found a little quilt shop in Tomah called

Rooster Quilts.  It really wasn't worth a stop- hardly anything in the store and it was a disaster too.

Also did some antique shopping in Sparta, lunch in a park and saw this Amish buggy. 

Beautiful bucholic settings with loads of trees and rolling hills.

Day 143 - Great River Bluffs State Park

Well, we are on a little vacation!  A state park near La Crosse , WI. No electricity and only 2 other campsites occupied.  I brought along that little mini quilt and started some hand quilting on it.

Our daughter joined us late in the day and will be with us for one night and one day of camping.

The awning over the kitchen is a new addition for us!

Day 135 - Many things worked on today

Worked on a variety of items today as it is Saturday.  Started the morning with tying some more on the camping quilt.

Then a bit of the afternoon working on a miniature quilt top that is about 8 1/2 x 11".

Then a second sewing on about 40 miniature 4 square blocks that are off white and 30's prints.

And we complete the crafting day with more of the basement ceiling being installed!!!

And that was the topper of a good day.
