Day 302 - Cross Stitch

Well, I am at that "between" place.  Kind of inbetween projects.  I always have many going in many different stages of "doneness".  Tonight I started a new small cross stitch.  Can you guess what it is?
Here is what I saw out of my kitchen window this morning.

Day 301 - Tree Topper Angel Doll

Well, she is on her own!  Covered her up a bit (just to be a little bit delicate).  The only thing at this time that I am unsure of is her legs.  She just isn't sitting very ladylike.  Keeps those legs rather far apart.  I did try and set the legs back a bit on her torso but perhaps they are too far back...we will see.

Day 300 - A Doll is being created...

Did some more work on the angel doll today.  Realized when Micaela and I were looking at the progress together that the head was too small...(not unlike having a "pinhead").  Looked at the pattern and saw that I had cut on the sewing line... so that will be a do-over.
Got the two leg sections sewn together and the "panties" on her too.
Luckily they will be under a dress as they look like "grandma panties".
I sure am messy when I am working on a project...

Day 299 - A New Doll

Well, I guess she isn't "new".  I have made this pattern once before many years ago.  My daughter wants an angel for the top of her new Christmas tree and I offered to make her the body.  So today I cut it out:
I did get all of the pieces sewn together and one lower leg is sewn
and turned and stuffed - ready to be stitched closed.
The 4 leg pieces have a lace overlay that must be carefully watched when
turning them right side out to avoid tearing the lace.  We will see how many pieces
I can get turned and stuffed tomorrow....

Day 298 - The day after Thanksgiving

Did some CRAZY early shopping this morning along with about a million other people in 7 degree frigid weather.  Also got a little bit of time with all of my children!!
The sewing of the strips for the next church quilt has been completed today.  I even got them all ironed! Might set this project aside for a little while to fit in another.  I will have to lay all 23 strips out to figure out the layout.   Feels good to have it this far.

Day 297 - Happy Thanksgiving!

Once the turkey was in the oven, table set I headed to my studio to get in a little sewing this morning.  Yup, church quilt.

I sewed for about 2 hours and then had to check on food so this is where I ended.
I did stop and figure out how long each row should be and how many rows I would need.
This step really should be accomplished before ANY sewing is done but sometimes I
just need to sew...
This was end of the morning sewing pile.

And then it was a lovely afternoon of tradition and family.
Life doesn't get any better than this.
So very much to be thankful for.

Day 296 - Church Quilt

Ok, so I am a little out of control on sewing as it is 12:26 am Thanksgiving morning and I have to be up in a few hours to get the turkey in!  Oh, but to sew....I have a total of blocks at 448 5" squares.  All have been sewn to at least one other block, some sew into 4 squares.  Need to figure out how long each row should be before I sew much more.  Maybe tomorrow...
Here is the stack at the end of the day (or beginning of the morning!).

Day 295 - Starting another quilt for church

After many days off (my sisters and mom had our annual long weekend together) and now I have gotten yet another sinus infection!  Anyway, I am getting going again.  I started sewing on another church quilt for missions.  I had been cutting out these squares when going through some of the smaller pieces of fabric from church as a lot of people don't want to deal with the small scraps.  Hopefully I have enough cut to made a quilt.  If not I will sew what I have and then continue to scout for more small pieces of fabric.
Here is a photo of what I have done this morning.  The stack on the right is the blocks that haven't been sewn at all.  The others are in various states of sewing.

Well, priced and boxed up all the little birdhouses, aprons, gift bags and that fringe quilt and will drop off at church tomorrow on my way to work.

Day 293 - Dream Big

Had a chance to do some more work on the Dream Big book.  I did get the cover made, a few more pages and then some page embellishments.  Have not started the journaling yet.  Here are some peeks at what was done today.

Day 292 - Dream Big book pages

I made myself have time to work on basic book construction tonight.  I glued up 10 pages of the book this evening.  No writing or embelishments but the photos are on paper...
These are all of the pages that have been glued up so far.

No Crafting today...

Busy morning becoming new members at our church. All of the children made time in their very busy schedules to join us...it was wonderful.
The rest of the day was spent working on the basement.  No time for anything crafty.  Michael completed the built in shelf.  Needs some trim and some stain but basically done!  Oh, I need some new speakers...
Pete has a place near the computer to lay now with a smaller phone and some rearranging.

I repainted this shelf and Michael hung it up for me tonight.

Then I put away some more tools and wood.  The door to the laundry room is still in the corner as is the piece of carpet that is in the black garbage bags.  Still not time to lay it down yet.

Day 291 - Busy, snowy day

(Just discovered that I forgot last night to push the button "publish post" for my entry yesterday evening!)

This is what I awoke to this morning....
Off to church to work from 9-12 on sewing for the craft sale next Saturday.

Then more snow and a drive to go to the first craft sale that my daughter Micaela had ever participated in.
Did a little repair sewing on my couch cushions.

Pete helped a lot today.

Michael worked on the built in shelf for the sewing room.

Last was a couple more pages of the "Dream Big" book.

Day 290 - Craft Group

Well, another new experience with the craft group.  Tonight Verna had reserved a seat for each of us for 5.00 at Archivers from 5:00 - 11:00.  We all met at the new restaurant in Maple Grove called Five Guys.  It is hambergers and wonderful fries.  Then on to Archivers.    There was not an empty chair in the place!

Verna worked on coloring in all of her Thanksgiving cards.

Carol updated her watertower book and worked on her leaf book.

Lois made some copies of some antique photos.

I stated my book of Dream Big in Door County.
I actually don't have a title for it yet.

What a great time with wonderful friends.
