Day 119 - Little squares...

Look what has happened outside my backdoor....

It's SPRING in Minnesota!!!

This morning I sewed some of the strips into 12 block strips.  Have them about 1/3 done this way. They still need to be pressed.

Day 118 - Sewing little squares...

Did some power sewing with some of those little blocks I sorted last night.  These are pre-cut blocks- about 2" "sissors cut" that were given to me by a friend.  I decided to get some of them together tonight.  I am randomly selecting pieces and chain sewing them together.

And then we have Pete laying on the white shirts on the ironing board that I should have been ironing tonight but instead I was sewing little uneven squares together....it was a good choice.

Michael installed another section of the basement ceiling.  The little hole is where the heat vent will go.

Day 107 - Church Work

Spent my Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at church working on the mission quilts. Here are a couple of snaps of the group that was working today.  I think we had 10 all together.

This is where I worked all day- laying out batting, choosing backing, laying the quilt on, pinning then cutting the entire thing out and sometimes enlarging the batting by hand sewing pieces together....

Also had to turn those quilts right side out...

One of the gals has a pen pal from Taiwan she has written with since 1958 and she brought us each a gift of a magnet, thimble and a Taiwanese green rice tea bag.

Another sign of spring in the yard when I came home:

And Michael worked a couple hours in the basement and got up some more ceiling tiles!!!

Day 103 - Mission Baby Quilts

Another day of working on Mission quilts for church. Both photos are kind of "washed out" as far as the colors go.  This first quilt is lavender and pink and all ready for the backing and batting on Saturday.

This second quilt is all blues with red accents.  I will add one more thin red border on the very edge.  The last border is a pinstripe of blue and white.

Then I made these into a mission quilt:

Then I put together a bunch of odd 4" blue flannel squares and will see if there is some plain flannel tomorrow night at church to add some borders:

Then mixed some more 4" flannel squares to do this little baby quilt and will also look for some border flannel tomorrow night at church:

Day 100 - Milestone in 365 Days of Crafting...

Spent my morning at church working on mission quilt kits.  Figuring out which ones were done and seeing if we had backing material or not for them.  I didn't get a photo of that but I did work on straightening out several of our cupboards when the quilt work was done.  ( I should have taken before and after photos)  Here is the cupboard:

This one I did clean out the top shelf and bottom. At the very bottom are all of the quilt tops and backings ready to be sewn together.

I cleaned the top shelf in this cupboard which was a mess!

And this section didn't need much of anything done.

When I got home some work had been done on the basement ceiling by Michael and my Dad!

These shots are from opposite ends of the basement!
