More Jumbo Blocks

It was a 9 hour work day with no lunch break...brutal. That will be my every Tuesday.  Managed to squeeze in making 2 more strip pieced blocks tonight.  I always feel better after being creative and sewing is such good therapy for me!! Plus, there is the promise of rain tonight- that is a reward in itself!

Here are the 2 from tonight and last nights sewing.

Sewing another kind of strip quilt

Started another church quilt.  I am using 3 inch strips that I have cut and sewed end to end.  Then just sewing them together.  I had this suggestion from a friend and thought I would give it a try.  I think it will be interesting.  Here it is so far and not ironed.

Tuesday.

Having a little motivation blip. *sigh*  Attended a quick church service this morning. Worked in the yard for about and hour and a half.   Micaela came over for a few hours and we priced some of her "felties" for her sale tomorrow and Thursday.  I had gotten a couple of coats of white paint on the shutter display she was using and she took that with.  Did some cutting of church fabric.  Need to get out of this funk... Pete isn't motivated either- maybe its the weather....it's supposed to snow tonight.
My pile of 3" strips.

My basket of 2" and 2 1/2" strips.

Finally, the basket of miscellaneous size strips.

I think it is time to get sewing.

Another church quilt kit.

Well, getting some things done.  This morning I laid out a pattern for another kit for church.  I found these squares in my huge bag of pieces that I brought home from church. They were folded into 1/4s but I unfolded and ironed them and figured out a patten.  Got a photo and made a kit up.  (One less pile of stuff on the sewing room floor!) Of course Pete was there to help...
Tonight I didn't feel like doing much so I did some cutting...

Saturday sewing and Projects coming together

Sewed most of the day.  I finished the secret project I was working on!  Then completed the sewing of the top of the strip quilt for church.  I think it turned out quite nicely.
Made a patten for another secret project and did some felt cutting for it.

This evening had a great dinner at Famous Daves with all of the family to celebrate my birthday.  It was a good time with everyone together.  Even had birthday cake! Another wonderful day in my life.

A little bit more.

Got a couple more rows sewn on this morning on another day of no work...Micaela joined me and we took a little field trip to Chipolte (with a buy one get one free coupon) then to Crafty Planet to "ooh and ahh" at the amazing fabrics and embroidery patterns onto Patina where we wished for lots of money to buy lots of things and then need much bigger houses to put them in.  It was a fun outing.

Spending time with my daughter

I believe this was my 4th day of no work.  Got the grocery shopping done (with coupons) and then did some sewing on the coordinated strip quilt for church.  We went to a matinee movie this afternoon called "Gnomeo and Juliet" and it was cute.  Then came back home and I worked on some more sewing for church and Micaela sorted through 3 boxes of mostly paperwork from her room.  It was a huge job but she stuck with it.  We had a great dinner with more sorting and sewing tonight.  It was a good day.

Too much going on

Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with how many projects I have going on.  Yet it is the way that I work.  I think it is just everything happening now in my life.
Got a few blocks sewn for the other church quilt.  It is fun to dig into the pile of strips that I have been cutting for forever and begin to use them.
And my little girl is close by.

Sewing a strip quilt

Well, the 3rd day of having hours cut...did some computer work, cleaned in the sewing room, washed clothes, ironed and folded clothes.  Started the wallpaper removal in the family room.  Pleasant surprize was there is some kind of paint on the sheetrock.  Bad news is that it took me 2 hours to get a 24 inch square done....
Sewed 3 of the rows of the strip quilt.

Day 364 - Almost There!!!

Wow!  I have been crafting for 364 days...Today was my second day of "not working" because my hours at work have been cut.  Grocery shopped and then got into the bathroom on the main floor and began taking the wallpaper border off.  What a job... it took most of the day but it is done!

When my arm needed a break I laid out the strip quilt for church done in green, blue, purple and yellow.   Now it is ready to be sewn together.

On another "arm" break time I laid out the other quilt that I am working on for church.  Finally figured out what kind of a pattern I could do with this.

After dinner I worked a couple of hours on squaring up all of the blocks for this quilt as they are slightly longer than they are wide.  I got about half of them cut.

A productive day being unemployed.

Day 358 - A little change on a friday night

To help ease the boredom/cabin fever/indecision I did a bit of sewing on another strip quilt.  This one has a variety of colors.  It is also for the church as it is fabric that I have been cutting into strips from some of the bag of fabric I brought home to work through.  Nice change for the evening.
Good buddy.

Day 357 - Are you getting tired of these???

I really am not but I am just having some motivational problems.  Nothing seems to be peaking my interest.  Perhaps it is the February doldrums...lack of sunlight...hours being cut at work...my cough being back again.
Nothing is making the creative juices flow...so here are my blocks for the evening.
My almost 3 inch stack of finished blocks.

My faithful gal pal- Pete.

Only got 4 blocks sewn today....

Had some nice company on the new rug.

Day 354 - Strip quilting again (still)

So I am restless.  Maybe it is the snow/cold, lack of vitamin D, coughing like the pneumonia is back.I don't know.  I am beginning to tire of the strip quilting.  Sewing room is a mess too.  Possibly too many things going on at once...
Did get 6 blocks sewn.

Day 351 - Starting another quilt....

Ok, so you already know that I ALWAYS have more than one or two projects going on at a time!

I finally found a pattern that I wanted to try for the 2nd camping quilt for our little T@B trailer.  I have a bunch of evenweave fabrics and thought I would try and do a random coloring of them.  Took forever to copy all of the patterns and I only made enough for 1/2 block!!  Here is what I ended up with tonight.

Oh, and while I was sewing, Pete was "pressing" the finished blocks for the strip quilt that I have been working on.  Thanks Pete!
