Memorial Day

On Saturday I was able to sew up the curtains for Michael's den.  Just a simple valance with some muslin lining.   There are two windows the same size,

The toughest part was Pete....

Sunday was a trip to Duluth to visit my Mom and other family so some more
yo yo's were stitched.  There is more daylight now so got more made on the drive.  I think that we did about 9 hours of driving today as we ran into a huge storm this evening and had to pull over twice as we couldn't see the lines on the road in front of us.

My drawer of red scraps is pretty empty now!

This little set of storage drawers actually has 4 drawers. The next one down holds the little scraps of blues and purples.  As you can see this one has a bunch of fabric that can be used for more yo yo's.

Monday was spent doing folding clothes, some cleaning and ironing.  Oh, I also got the backyard grass mowed and will go to my quilt guild meeting this evening.

Boy these 3 day weekends go fast....



Sewing again!

It always is a good day sewing!  I made new curtains for the bathroom window.  They have been just white muslin for about 20 years.

We just repainted the bathroom (was it 3 or 4 coats to cover white with white??)

Decided we needed a change.  I found these curtains at a thrift store and remade them the fit the window.  Michael and I both agree they are still a little too sheer on the bottom.  We should be able to get by for a while with it being winter but will have to find a solution of some kind...  I do like the color though it is strange after so many years of just white.

Of course the new year wouldn't be complete without Pete in the sewing room today.

Did some assembly sewing on some tiny squares that are not cut even and are so old...who could have possibly cut all of these out......(me).

Good to get something going with them.

Day 157 - Making curtains

Something different today!  My daughter and I went to IKEA this morning and she picked out some fabric for her bedroom.  Tonight we made it into 2 valances and a covering for her closet.  It was a fun different project to do and we are both happy at how they turned out!  I pinned and she sewed- good team effort.
