Day 227 - Jelly Roll Quilt
I completed sewing all of the rows on the jelly roll quilt. I have pressed it and will store with the strip quilt top, 2 inch square quilt top and the cat quilt top (not sewn this year). I hope to be able to put all of these together after December. Might put some borders on some of them too.

Day 226 - Taking a class...
Something new tonight.
I took a class at Fat Quarter Quilting to use a new Bernina 380.
I took a class at Fat Quarter Quilting to use a new Bernina 380.
Class ran from 6:00-9:30.
We used lots of different stitches
and about 7 different presser feet, plus made button holes
and dropped the feed dogs.
There is even a "cruise control" on these machines!!
Our instructor was very informative about all of the machines and answered so many questions.
One of the other women in the class owned 4 sewing machines!
The other one had purchased a Bernina a year ago
and was wanting to trade up to one like we were using tonight.
I shared that I sew on my 250.00 Sears Kenmore
that is 33 years old!
Here is my almost finished purse.
And the final project completed.
It was a fun and informative evening!

Spent the morning and early afternoon enjoying
the quiet of the emptying campground.
Worked on the next birdhouse for church with some very
interesting papers given to me by my dear friend Carol.

If you really look close you can see the pattern.

Day 218 - These are my people....
Summer means family reunions in hot garages, wonderful potlucks,
too many photo ops and long car drives...
Today was an 8 hour (round trip) to Tyler, MN.

Day 217 - 1st birdhouse
Completed the first birdhouse for the chuch Christmas bazaar tonight. Just needs to be decoupaged on the bottom.
Day 216 - Craft Group
Got together tonight with my monthly craft group. Verna was missing as she was on her way to a funeral "up north". Lois worked on little plastic canvas/ribbon bookmarks, Carol worked on her Watertower book (this page featuring the "Witche's Hat" watertower) and I worked on making patterns for little birdhouse coverings and started covering one of the birdhouses. A good evening of sharing.

Yesterday was spent driving up to Hibbing and
moving our son into his new place to go to school.
Here is the garage apartment that we moved him into.

An interesting building from the 50's (?) which is a ticket booth for the Hibbing Raceway.
Another place we found but no time to visit-maybe another time.
And today I sewed another strip onto the quilt
and sewed 2 more strips together.

Day 211 - Wild Ride!
Didn't blog last night as the internet service was in and out.
This morning our rain gague looked like this:
The backyard looks like this- pretty soggy.
I did get 2 more rows sewn for the quilt
and one sewn onto the quilt
as well as getting the first coat of modge podge
on the little birdhouses.
It's night already. I will try and get this on now.
Just about packed up for our son's move to Hibbing tomorrow.
Got more rain today and also got our 1/2 cow which JUST fit into
the completely empty freezer. Learn something new every day.
I think the thing about the move tomorrow
is just to remember to "breathe"...

Day 209 - Summer storms
I am writing my blog this morning as last night we had a major thunder/lightening/rain storm that made the computer impossible to access. At one time all of the power went out in the house but came back on a couple of seconds later. Our rain amounted to in our rain gauge! I was able to mow the back yard in the morning before we got our first round of 1/2 inch. This little guy was on our front railing this morning.
Sewed 2 strips more of the strip blocks together and now have to take the paper back off. Ironed the strips that I found in the bottom of the church box.

Sewed up the rest of the precut blocks from the church box.
This is going to be a "fringed" quilt. Here is a block sewn- see the 3 layers?
Worked some more on the 3rd birdhouse (this one is a challenge!).
The little chimney and the little awning over the window,
the window itself- challenging to paper over/around.
Not done with the front yet but part way there!

Day 208 - A multitude of stuff...
I am back in the grove of the church ladies quilt meetings! Finally got to one tonight. We were brainstorming ideas for the November craft sale and also discussed the first ever tea party at church. Guess what I came away with tonight???Look!
I have another box of fabric to deal with!
There are some blocks cut out already and some random fabrics...
Tonight I got another row added to the strip quilt
but couldn't find a good place to show you how it is coming along.
The retro sofa is moving with my son this weekend...
Also did a little more "paper fitting" on the 3rd birdhouse.
Pete rested while I did some sewing....
